Privacy Policy

This website, www.cjkerls.com, is run by CJ Kerls, Branch Manager / SVP of Mortgage Lending at Rate (NMLS #243438; Rate NMLS License #2611). In this policy, “I” and “me” mean CJ Kerls.

This policy covers this website only. It does not cover Rate’s loan application or any other Rate website. Those are covered by Rate’s Privacy Policy.

This website has no forms, sign-ups, newsletters or visitor accounts, and it never asks you to type in personal information.

If you choose to contact me by phone or email, or book a call through my Calendly page, I receive the details you share, such as your name, phone number, email address and questions about your situation. I use them only to answer you and to help with your mortgage questions. My phone number and email address are Rate business accounts, so those conversations are also covered by Rate’s Privacy Policy. Calendly bookings are also covered by Calendly’s privacy notice.

The “Apply” and “Get pre-approved” buttons on this website take you to Rate’s secure online application on Rate’s own website. Everything you enter there, including financial and credit information, is collected and protected by Rate, not by this website, and is governed by Rate’s Privacy Policy and the privacy notices Rate gives you as a lender.

Like most websites, this site uses a few outside services that collect technical information when you visit.

Google Analytics

I use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful and how visitors find the site. It uses cookies and similar technology to collect information such as the pages you view, how long you stay, the website or search that sent you, your general location (city or region), and your device and browser type. Google processes your IP address to do this. I see only summary reports, not information that identifies you. Learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.

YouTube videos

Some pages show my videos in a YouTube player. When a page with a video loads, YouTube (owned by Google) may set cookies and collect information about your device and how you watch, under Google’s Privacy Policy.

Hosting and security

The companies that host and protect this website (DigitalOcean and Cloudflare) process standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver pages and to block attacks and spam. When someone visits an address on this site that doesn’t exist, the site records only that address and the page that linked to it, so I can fix broken links. It does not record who you are.

I don’t sell your personal information, and I don’t share it for advertising. This website doesn’t use advertising or retargeting cookies.

Information is shared only with the service providers described above, which help run this website, with Rate when you contact me about a loan, or when the law requires it.

Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common standard for responding to it, and this website does not change how it works when it receives one. You can still turn off Google Analytics with the opt-out add-on above or by blocking cookies in your browser.

If you live in California, you may have the right to ask what personal information has been collected about you, and to ask that it be corrected or deleted. For information connected with this website or your conversations with me, contact me using the details below. This website links to other websites, including Rate, Google, Zillow, Yelp, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and Calendly. Their privacy policies, not this one, apply when you visit them.

This website is meant for adults looking into home financing. It is not directed to children under 16, and I don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.

Every page on this website is served over a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS). Because the site doesn’t collect personal information through forms, it doesn’t store that kind of information about visitors.

If this policy changes, I’ll post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top.
